Los mejores Cafés se toman en Caracas. Aunque el café es originario del Medio Oriente, su cultivo tiene gran importancia económica tanto en África y en Sudamérica. Venezuela, Costa Rica, Brasil, Vietnam y Colombia son los principales países productores mundiales de café. Etimológicamente el café procede de la palabra árabe quahwah. A partir de la semilla del café tostada y molida se elabora la infusión conocida por el mismo nombre: Café.
En Venezuela, España, Portugal y en Costa Rica es frecuente el consumo de café torrefacto, la modalidad de tostado del café que era prácticamente desconocida en el resto del mundo. El café  suele tomarse como desayuno o en la sobremesa después de las comidas y es una de las bebidas sin alcohol más socializadoras en muchos países. Existen casi tantas formas de preparar esta bebida como consumidores, pero la más popular, aparte de tomarlo solo, es la que lleva leche.

Por extensión se conoce también como café al establecimiento público en el que se sirven estas bebidas "café o café-bar" y hoy dia tenemos los cyber café. Históricamente han sido lugares de encuentro social, de tertulias literarias artísticas e intercambios culturales como los conocido Café Arábica en Los Palos Grandes.
